One particular NHL franchise that will be undergoing some serious changes is the Winnipeg Jets, who have already bought out the contract of now-former captain Blake Wheeler.
Another longtime Jets player who appears to be on his way out the door is goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who is arguably the most important figure on the roster. He's already told the Jets in no uncertain terms that he isn't interested at all in being part of a rebuilding team, and that he wants a chance to realistically compete for the Stanley Cup.
Despite the fact that the New Jersey Devils already have a pair of goaltenders in Vitek Vanecek and Akira Schmid under contract for next year, there is a reported mutual interest between the team and Hellebuyck according to former NHL goaltender and current analyst Kevin Weekes:
Hellebuyck has racked up 238 career NHL wins while also amassing a 2.66 career goals against average, .916 save percentage, and 32 shutouts.
