Report: Panthers invite longtime KHL d-man to boost their lineup
A new face could make a difference
HockeyFeed
The Florida Panthers are trying to add some depth to their blue line and have decided to make a move to improve it.
George Richards of the Miami Herald has reported that the Panthers will have veteran KHL defenseman Nikolai Belov at their upcoming training camp on a tryout basis.
Although Belov has never played in the National Hockey League, he has been playing the last 10 seasons in the KHL. He just came off the best season of his career with Chelyabinsk Traktor, as he scores eight goals and recorded a total of 15 points in 59 games.
The 30-year-old defender could crack the roster and prove himself as a valuable seventh defenseman for the Panthers. He could also added some grit and size to the team, as he stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 194 pounds.
