Could pen soon officially be put to paper for free agent forward Nazem Kadri? According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, it's a possibility.
Kadri, who is coming off a career season in which he posted 87 points in 71 games and also helped the Colorado Avalanche to the 2022 Stanley Cup, is the highest profile free agent still available on the market today. And while he's been linked to several teams (including remaining with Colorado), it looks as though it's the Nww York Islanders who have emerged as the favorites to land his services.
He writes on Twitter:
"#Isles fans, multiple transactions are looking close. In addition to all the Nazem Kadri chatter, which I believe is valid, some internal house cleaning is also being taken care of. When will all the dominoes fall? That’s up to you-know-who."
Of course, the "you know who" is in reference to Isles president of hockey operations and general manager Lou Lamoriello, who will need to shed some salary in order to accommodate a potential Kadri signing. One notable candidate to be moved could be veteran Josh Bailey and his $5 million cap hit.
Islanders fans, how would you like to see Kadri wearing the blue and orange when the team hits the ice in the fall?
