Report: Multiple suitors for Linus Ullmark
Could the Bruins goaltender be on the move?
HockeyFeed
The Boston Bruins have been rolling with the goaltending tandem of Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman for the last three seasons, and they've formed arguably the best 1-2 punch between the pipes in the National Hockey League.
But now that the Bruins are officially in the offseason, changes are on the horizon. It was reported that earlier in the year, the Bruins had a deal in place to send Ullmark to the Los Angeles Kings, but that the goaltender vetoed the move thanks to his no-trade clause in his contract.
In the words of Bruins general manager Don Sweeney, he knows that his phone will be ringing with inquiries about Ullmark this summer.
“We’re going to explore opportunities,” Sweeney told reporters this week. “My phone’s going to ring. I’m going to make calls. That’s just what the job requires and at times, unfortunately, things start to leak out and that’s your job. You guys do a hell of a job of figuring those things out, piecing them together.”
Don't be surprised to see Ullmark's name pop in in trade rumors once again in short order. According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, multiple teams are interested in potentially acquiring Ullmark:
"The Los Angeles Kings, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators and Carolina Hurricanes are among the teams that expressed interest in Ullmark during the season – we know the Kings and Sens pitched offers before the trade deadline – and I’ve got to think all four clubs will reach out this summer, if they haven’t already. The Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings could reach out next month, too."
Ullmark has one season remaining on his current deal that carries an AAV of $5 million. Which of the above teams would make the most sense for a potential acquisition?
