Bye, bye!

Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes said to reporters today that he does not plan on offering an entry level contract to 1st round selection Logan Mailloux at this time and that he and his management team are "evaluating him as a person and a player."
Mailloux, of course, was selected by the Canadiens 31st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by former Habs GM Marc Bergevin after Mailloux explicitly asked teams not to draft him. The now 19 year old was charged by Swedish police for "sharing a intimate image without consent of a young woman he took while the two were engaging in a sexual act" when he was 18 and on loan during the 2020 season playing in Sweden.
Following his charges, Mailoux renounced himself from the upcoming NHL Draft and said that he wanted to focus on reconciliation with his victim and on growing as a person. He planned on playing the 2021-22 season with the London Knights of the OHL and entering the 2022 NHL Draft. But then... well... Bergevin ignored EVERYTHING and went ahead and drafted Mailoux anyways. The backlash was serious and now it appears that with Bergevin out in Montreal, Mailoux may be out as well.
Stay tuned.
