Report: Bruins likely to make a move soon
They may need to make a salary cap move in short order.

The Boston Bruins signed an old friend to a professional tryout agreement earlier this fall, and though a contract hasn't been signed, he's still been practicing with the team and could be officially putting pen to paper before too long.
Forward Danton Heinen, who has spent the last two years with the Pittsburgh Penguins after having initially began his NHL career with the Bruins who made him the 116th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft, has yet to appear in a regular season game this season due to not having gotten an official contract offer.
But according to an unnamed NHL executive, the fact that he's with the Bruins on their current road trip could mean an impeding deal - but that a salary cap move would need to be made in order to facilitate Heinen's signing.
“In this cap world, this isn’t uncommon,” an NHL executive source pointed out to Boston Hockey Now on Friday morning. “The fact he’s on the trip and still practicing with them is a pretty good indication a signing is coming, I’d think. Like almost every team, though, the Bruins need to clear cap space to make a move like that.”
“We’re still weighing our options as it relates to potentially signing Danton [Heinen]. And he knows he’s been here in a PTO, but he’s also made the decision difficult. We’re going to take that right down on the wire when we make our final roster decisions,” Sweeney said at Media Day on Oct. 9.
As of right now, the Bruins have barely over a half million dollars remaining in available cap space.
In 413 NHL games, Heinen has scored 70 goals with 106 assists. He's also added six goals and six assists in 40 career postseason games.
