Report: Bruins could lose yet another player

They've already lost plenty of talent from last year's team.

The Boston Bruins team that hits the ice next month for the beginning of the regular season will look almost nothing like the team that skated off the TD Garden ice in defeat earlier in the spring after their historic season came to a shocking halt against the Florida Panthers.

Gone are the likes of Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Taylor Hall, Tyler Bertuzzi, Dmitri Orlov, Tomas Nosek, and Nick Foligno. Meanwhile, coming into town are Morgan Geekie, James van Riemsdyk, Kevin Shattenkirk, and fan favorite Milan Lucic. But could there be an additional member of last year's historic Bruins squad that could soon be on his way out of town?

According to an anonymous NHL scout, there are teams that are interested in Matt Grzelcyk, and a move could be made by Bruins management if young Mason Lohrei continues to impress.

“Chatter is picking up more as I scout preseason games here,” a Northeast-based NHL pro scout told Boston Hockey Now on Wednesday morning. “Teams are starting to see if maybe they have a young player that can make the jump or eat up more minutes. Look at what the kid [Mason] Lohrei did in Buffalo last night. Sure, he made some mistakes, but he didn’t get down on himself, and man, he ate some minutes up. I watched him a lot last season. I think he could be ready for the show.”

“I don’t really know about (Derek) Forbort, but I can tell you that teams are interested in Grzelcyk,” the scout told BHN. “Maybe Donny [Sweeney] should ring up Kyle [Davidson] again in Chicago? Grzelcyk is better than any left-shot D they have now, and they have cap space. He could be great on their powerplay.”

Grzelcyk scored four goals along with 22 assists in 75 games played last season.
