Ryan Dzingel was one of 11 players who was offered a professional tryout agreement by the Arizona Coyotes ahead of training camp, but did not manage to secure a spot on the roster and was released two weeks ago.
Since his release, he’s hinted several times at the idea of retiring from the game, more recently on the Coming in Hot podcast on which he not only revealed embarrassing stories about one of his former head coaches John Tortorella, but also about his recent time in Arizona.
Dzingel explains how, in order to make it to a preseason game, the Coyotes had to hurry to find a commercial flight to get the team at the arena on time, which meant the players had to sleep in the airport to make the 7am flight after the own club’s plane malfunction.
The veteran forward claims it is a clown show in Arizona and cannot believe the Coyotes are even considered a professional team in the NHL, even going as far as saying that his recent time with the Yotes on a PTO convinced him he needs to retire.
It’s all here:
If Dzingel has indeed hung up the skates, he probably has the potential to be a great podcaster in the near future as his many anecdotes on the Coming in Hot podcast have a lot of fans talking.
Last season, Dzingel put up two goals and 11 points in 22 appearances with AHL Chicago. In 404 career NHL outings, he recorded 87 goals, 188 points and 191 penalty minutes.
