Red Wings state the obvious after their latest blunder vs. Arizona

For a team that saw their comfortable cushion of 10 points between them and the next team behind them in the standings completely disappear in a matter of two weeks, the Detroit Red Wings certainly didn't resemble a team desperate to end a shocking seven-game losing skid. 

Last night against the Arizona Coyotes at Little Caesars Arena, the lottery-bound desert dogs once again handily defeated them as they did a week ago in Tempe. Their 4-1 win gave them a combined 8-1 advantage in goals scored in the two games the pair of teams faced one another, a complete reversal of the script that the Red Wings were anticipated to follow in being able to easily beat a team with no chance at the playoffs.

There wasn't much to be said afterward other than the obvious, which is what veteran David Perron led with. 

"It's unacceptable," Perron said. "As tough as it gets right now in the room, we have to find a way to bounce back, we have to find a way to get up and put our pride on the line and be better."

"Got to get back at it in practice, find a way to turn the page," Perron said. "Zero in the next game and go at it. Why not do it against the Sabres? We have to find a way to put a sound, solid game for 60 minutes that we can hang our hat to and be proud of at the end of the night."

Meanwhile, defenseman Ben Chiarot knows that the absence of Dylan Larkin isn't an excuse for the Red Wings to have all of a sudden more closely devolved into Swiss cheese than a squad with their eyes on the playoffs. 

"It's not just Larks," Chiarot said. "Defensively, you see the chances that we give up, the breakdowns that we have. When we've been playing well this year, those chances aren't happening or aren't happening as frequently as they are right now. That's what I see — I see too many chances given up. It puts too much stress on what we are doing defensively. It's costing us."

Are the Red Wings going to be able to put a desperately needed halt to this losing streak?
