The Detroit Red Wings bolstered their goaltending depth by bringing aboard a familiar face that had a very short former stint with them, but one of the all-time great gear setups.
Goaltender Magnus Hellberg has found his way back to Detroit, having been waived by the Seattle Kraken (for the second time this season). Detroit will be his 3rd NHL team in 2022-23, as he was waived following Training Camp and subsequently snagged by the Ottawa Senators.
He would then once again be waived by Ottawa, only to be claimed by Seattle.
Hellberg owns a 3-3 record at the NHL level with a 2.60 goals against average and .891 save percentage. His only appearance with the Red Wings came in Game 82 of last season, a 5-2 triumph over the New Jersey Devils.
