Red Wings leading scorer Lucas Raymond injured on Sunday.
The Detroit Red Wings appear to have lost their leading scorer to a bizarre injury.
The Detroit Red Wings' fan base is holding their collective breath on Sunday night after a scary looking situation involving their leading scorer.
It appears as though Red Wings star forward Lucas Raymond has been injured after an awkward fall into the boards left him favoring his right arm, and perhaps his right hand as well.
Raymond got tangled up with Edmonton Oilers defenseman Brett Kulak as they raced towards a loose puck along the boards, with Raymond spinning and falling into the boards at an awkward angle after getting tripped up. Raymond would be slow to get up, just remaining seated on the ice, but it is what came next that is the real cause for concern.
Raymond would begin favoring his right arm, as if he knew something was very wrong, and even removed his glove to look at his hand. It was clear that Raymond was feeling something, although what that is exactly remains to be seen.
Another concerning sign was that Raymond abandoned both his glove and stick on the ice and immediately skated off into the Red Wings locker room, another sign that the player himself believes he has suffered an injury.
Raymond has not returned to the game and there has been no update from the Red Wings just yet.
Update: Raymond has returned to the bench.
