Red Wings forward signs contract overseas

The Detroit Red Wings have gone through numerous changes this offseason that has also seen a number of players depart to play elsewhere via trade and free agency. And now, add another name to the list of players who won't be back with the organization in 2024-25.
Forward Auston Czarnik, a Michigan native who has spent the last two years with the organization in a dual role of the AHL and NHL, has signed a contract with SC Bern of the Swiss National League.
Last season, he skated in 34 games with the Red Wings, registering a single assist that came in October on a goal by Alex DeBrincat. He also added 10 goals and 18 assists while playing with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
He's a veteran of 205 NHL contests that include stops with the Calgary Flames, Boston Bruins, New York Islanders and Seattle Kraken, and has scored a total of 18 goals with 33 assists.
