Tonight marks the final game for the Detroit Red Wings before they get themselves an eight-day break for the NHL All-Star Game; forward Alex DeBrincat is their lone representative heading to Toronto to participate in the upcoming festivities in Toronto.
Goaltender Alex Lyon has emerged as the team's starting goaltender, filling in admirably for the injured Ville Husso despite having began the year third on Detroit's depth chart behind Husso and veteran James Reimer. And while Husso has been working his way back from the injury he suffered against Anaheim in December, he won't be playing tonight due to an illness.
According to the Red Wings, Lyon will once again be getting the start between the pipes.
Lyon has racked up an impressive 13-6-1 record with a 2.49 goals against average, .924 save percentage and a pair of shutouts in his first season with Detroit.
Following tonight's game, the Red Wings will be off until next Saturday when they bring in the Vancouver Canucks, who are turning heads everywhere by leading the Western Conference in points while also featuring ex-Red Wings players Filip Hronek and Pius Suter, to Little Caesars Arena for an afternoon matchup.
