Red Wings booed off the ice after 7th straight loss

Detroit is in dire straits.

What has happened to the Detroit Red Wings in the last two weeks has been nothing short of a Titanic-esque collapse. Everything was going right, and then in an instant, nothing has gone right.

The lowly Arizona Coyotes, who are nowhere near a postseason berth, defeated the Red Wings for the second time in less than a week's time, outscoring them by a total of 8-1 and once again putting a serious dent into Detroit's playoff hopes. And while the Red Wings did get off to a somewhat better start right off the bat, they allowed a shorthanded goal by Logan Cooley on Arizona's very first shot of the game.

And it was in stunningly similar fashion to Alex Tuch's goal just 1:07 into Detroit's loss against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night - a defensive miscue led directly to a wide open opportunity for an opposition player, who beat goaltender Alex Lyon with a shot he certainly would have liked to have had back.

Lucas Raymond tied the score on a one-time shot past Connor Ingram on the power play, but that's the only positive Detroit was able to enjoy. Michael Carcone tallied his 19th goal in the 2nd period to give the Coyotes the lead, and they would cement the win after Nick Bjugstad was left all alone in front of the net midway through the third and beat Lyon.

And as the time wound down, the fans who had decided to stick around Little Caesars Arena and not get a head start on the traffic let their team know exactly what they thought of not only their effort in dropping another embarrassing game to an inferior opponent, but of their 7th straight loss with a chorus of booing.

Additionally, there were fans who were captured chanting "Priority sucks!" in reference to Priority Waste, the metro-Detroit trash collection company that placed an advertisement on the Detroit jersey immediately before the losing streak started.
