The Detroit Red Wings are gearing up to get back into action tomorrow night at Little Caesars Arena after enjoying an extended period of time off due to the NHL All-Star break.
And ahead of tomorrow's game at home against the visiting Edmonton Oilers and general manager Ken Holland, two roster moves have been announced by the team. Gritty forward Adam Erne, who is in the final year of his contract, was waived. He went unclaimed and has since been assigned to the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins.
Additionally, the Red Wings have recalled forward Filip Zadina from the Griffins, who was playing with the team on a conditioning stint following his activation from Injured Reserve.
Erne, who was one of Steve Yzerman's first acquisitions since assuming the role of general manager in April of 2019 (also coming over from the Lightning), has scored six goals with eight assists in 43 games played this season. Over the course of his career, he's tallied a total of 38 goals and 47 assists along with 158 PIM
Meanwhile, Zadina will be skating in his first NHL game since suffering a broken bone in his leg after blocking a shot against the New York Islanders on November 5.
In the nine games that he's skated in this season, he's yet to register a single point while having also posted a -3 plus/minus rating.
