The Detroit Red Wings have announced an "emergency" roster move this morning ahead of this weekend's home and home series with their Atlantic Division rival Boston Bruins.
Forward Austin Czarnik has been recalled from the American Hockey League affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins, in all likelihood as a replacement for Robby Fabbri.
Fabbri was injured during Wednesday night's victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena, sparking fears that he may have suffered yet another significant leg ailment. However, the good news is that he was able to avoid the worst and his status is considered day to day.
Czarnik has skated in 12 games for the Red Wings this season, scoring twice while also adding an assist. Meanwhile, he's appeared in 42 games with the Griffins, scoring 13 goals with 23 assists.
In 154 career NHL games, he's tallied 17 goals with 31 assists.
