Rangers’ Gerard Gallant slams reporters when questioned about possible firing
The bench boss was not happy…

The New York Rangers looked poised for a deep run into the playoffs after adding Vincent Trochek in the offseason and then acquiring Vladimir Tarasenko and Patrick Kane right before the trade deadline.
The New Jersey Devils cut the run short and ousted the Rangers in seven games during Round 1. Soon after, rumours of head coach Gerard Gallant possibly losing his job started to surface and finally, when asked about it on Wednesday, the Rangers’ bench boss was pissed this is what is being questioned about his team’s lack of success.
“I can’t believe I have to answer some of these questions about me getting let go or getting fired, brought up by the media. Disappointing.”
I don’t get why Gallant isn’t taking some accountability for the Rangers’ elimination. While the players couldn’t keep the momentum or even with the Devils’ speed, it was clear that Gallant also failed to adapt by changing his line combinations and finding new ways to challenged New Jersey.
Gallant clearly believes he still deserves the gig. He reportedly has two years left on the four-year contract he signed with the Rangers in 2021.
In their expansion season in 2017-18, the Vegas Golden Knights were led by Gallant to an appearance in the Stanley Cup Final.
He was not able to do the same for the Rangers this year.
