QMJHL players Daigle and Siciliano sent to prison for sexual assault of a minor!
The assault took place following their President’s Cup celebration and the players attempted to avoid prison. But not so fast. Get the full story below:
Back in 2023, former Victoriaville Tigres players Nicolas Daigle and Massimo Siciliano plead guilty to sexually assaulting a minor and producing a recording of the alleged assault during the team’s President’s Cup victory party back in June, 2021.
Daigle was sentenced to 32 months in prison, while his former teammate’s sentence was 30 months. Daigle also pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism and another of sharing intimate images, having filmed the young victim before showing the images to members of his team gathered in a hotel room.
It has been determined on Friday morning that both Daigle and Siciliano must now surrender to prison authorities by next Wednesday. The Journal de Montreal reports that while the two former players had put in an appeal and had been released since July 2024 pending the Court of Appeal’s decision on their case, they now have to go to prison seeing that a three-judge panel unanimously rejected the two young men’s appeal.
It should be recalled that the two athletes sexually assaulted a young female employee of the hotel where their team was staying during the QMJHL President’s Cup final back in June 2021.
The victim had agreed to join Daigle in his room, informing him that she wanted to be alone with him. However, upon her arrival, Siciliano was there as well, and a three-way sexual encounter to which the complainant had not consented took place.
Neither players were selected by a team in the National Hockey League and will probably have to rethink their career once they get out of jail.
