Nashville Predators goaltending prospect Yaroslav Askarov has reportedly asked for a trade from the franchise that selected him in the first round (11th overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
As reported by former NHL goaltender and current analyst Kevin Weekes, Askarov wants out of the Predators organization and will not report to the minors if assigned there:
Having played overseas in his native Russia, Askarov made the jump to North America in time for the 2022-23 NHL season, and suited up for the Predators' American Hockey League affiliate Milwaukee Admirals. He amassed a record of 26-16-5 with a 2.69 goals against average.
His trade request comes on the heels of the Predators locking up starter Juuse Saros to an eight year extension along with the signing of Scott Wedgewood.
