PK Subban has all-time great comparison for Connor McDavid

Hockey fans are witnessing something special right now, and it was years in the making. The Edmonton Oilers have officially forced Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers, having won two straight games after initially trailing three games to none and finding themselves on the brink of elimination. 

And it's been the performance of captain Connor McDavid that has not only helped make it possible, but firmly thrust his name into the Conn Smythe Trophy conversation even in the event of an eventual Panthers Cup victory. With two goals and two assists in last night's 5-3 win at Amerant Bank Arena, McDavid now has 42 points in 23 postseason games, he's become the very 1st player in NHL history to record consecutive four-point games in a Cup Final series. 

And his historic performance hasn't gone unnoticed by former NHL defenseman and current analyst PK Subban, who had a rather lofty comparison for the 9th year pro. 

'I'm just sick and tired of people talking to me about McDavid and that he isn't the greatest right now," Subban opined shortly after the final horn. 

"Everybody, not one person in the building thinks he's going to do this," he continued. "Tic tac toe puts him in the 'McBlender' and the main ingredient in the 'McBlender'. His guys reach it. A lot of guys reach it. McDavid's teaching Stanley Cup Final. 'You reach, I teach,' Michael Jordan used to say it. Conor McDavid's saying it now and he's doing it on the biggest stage."

Thanks to McDavid's efforts, the Oilers now have a very realistic fighting chance to become the first team since the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs to complete a reverse sweep in the Stanley Cup Final. Game 5 is scheduled for Friday night at Rogers Place.
