Picture appears to reveal damage to the Stanley Cup.
The legendary trophy damaged over night?
HockeyFeed
The Penguins won the greatest prize in professional hockey on Sunday night and they may have already left their mark on it, in more ways than one.
Of course the Penguins will have their names added to the long list of champions already engraved on the Stanley Cup but they may have also dented the holy grail of hockey. A picture published on social media this morning by the keeper of the cup appears to show the Penguins Matt Cullen boarding with Lord Stanley's prized trophy and if you look closely at the base of the Cup, the metal appears to have been warped.
Fans on social media quickly pointed out what appears to be the dent on bottom of the cup, but so far no one is talking. Whether the Cup was dented prior to the Penguins acquiring it or during a night of post-championship celebration may never be known.
