Pheonix Copley out for the remainder of the season.
The Los Angeles Kings will be without goaltender Pheonix Copley for the rest of the 2023-24 NHL season.
The worst has been confirmed for injured Los Angeles Kings goaltender Pheonix Copley.
According to a report from Los Angeles Kings insider John Hoven, Copley underwent successful ACL surgery earlier this week but will miss the remainder of the season as he recovers from the process. This is a tough loss for the Los Angeles Kings at a time when finding help in goal around the National Hockey League is proving to be incredibly difficult and likely incredibly costly as well.
Copley only appeared in 8 games for the Kings this season prior to being injured and recorded a 3.16 goals against average and a .870 save percentage prior to being injured.
You have to wonder what the future will have in store for the 31 year old journeyman netminder who is currently on a 1 year deal with the Kings that carries an average annual value and cap hit of $1.5 million. Copley will likely be out for the remainder of that deal, and whether or not the pending unrestricted free agent will remain with the Kings remains to be seen.
