According to insider Pierre LeBrun, the Pittsburgh Penguins are finalizing a deal to acquire defenseman Dmitry Kulikov from the Anaheim Ducks.
The deal is about to get finalized and reportedly involves a third round pick and a player going to Anaheim. LeBrun believes the player from Pittsburgh heading to Anaheim is forward Brock McGinn.
It is believed that Anaheim retains some of Kulikov's salary.
This is the fourth time Kulikov is traded and turns out to be an inexpensive deadline add for the Penguins.
He will be an insurance piece for Pittsburgh, still focused on clicking a playoff spot.
He is playing north of 20 minutes a night for the Ducks this season and has recorded three goals and 15 points in 61 games.
More to come.
