Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager Jason Spezza shared some truly horrific news on Monday.
Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager and former National Hockey League star Jason Spezza has just shared some truly horrific news.
On Monday, Spezza revealed in a statement that his younger brother Matthew Spezza had died of an accidental overdose. Spezza release his statement through the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he currently works alongside general manager Kyle Dubas.
Here is Spezza's statement in full:
On behalf of my family, it is with the heaviest of hearts that I share that my younger brother, Matthew, passed away due to an accidental overdose over the weekend. My family and I are heartbroken and ask for privacy during this difficult time.
Matthew Spezza was just 37 years old.
My thoughts and condolences go out to Jason and the rest of the Spezza family, as well as to all of Matthews' friends and loved ones.
