Penguins fans destroy GM Kyle Dubas in latest ranking
Pens fans aren't very confident in their current GM.
Former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas would soon land on his feet after being terminated by Toronto last summer, taking an executive role with the Pittsburgh Penguins which soon expanded into naming himself the general manager.
The 2023-24 NHL season was the first in star captain Sidney Crosby's career that he and his teammates missed out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the second straight year, and there were reports of strife within the dressing room following the trade of popular forward Jake Guentzel.
And with no major moves so far this offseason combined with franchise cornerstones Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang and Crosby all turning a year old, the Penguins don't appear poised to make a return to the playoffs any time soon. In fact, fan confidence in Dubas and the rest of the Pittsburgh management staff was ranked among the lowest of all 32 NHL teams, coming in at No. 29 overall.
Fan confidence fell an astounding 31% from their position at this point last offseason, while management earned particularly low marks for their performance in executing trades, navigating the free-agency market, and drafting/development of players.
The Penguins could be in line for a difficult rebuild, and fans don't appear to have much faith in Dubas and Co. to make it successful.
