With the latest round of National Hockey League waivers upon us, one member of the Pittsburgh Penguins has been delivered the unfortunate news that he's been waived.
The Penguins announced that White is now up for grabs by any of the other 31 NHL clubs after having appeared in only 11 games this season, registering zero points along with a -2 rating.
A native of metro-Boston, White joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program before playing at Boston College. Eventually, he was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 2015.
He'd be later waived by Ottawa and signed to a new contract by the Florida Panthers, playing in 68 games while scoring eight goals and seven assists. He'd also appear in nearly every Panthers playoff game last spring as they went on an astounding Cinderella run to the Stanley Cup Final that included a Round 1 upset over White's hometown Boston Bruins.
In 303 NHL games, he's scored a total of 44 goals with 69 assists.
Should White go unclaimed, he'll likely be heading to the Penguins American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
