Bo Horvat might have shut out all trade rumours, the Vancouver Canucks’ captain remains one of the most coveted players on the trade market ahead of the March 3rd deadline. While several teams have been linked to the star forward, former NHL forward Paul Bissonnette is convinced he knows which uniform Horvat will wear after the trade deadline. And no, it is not the Toronto Maple Leafs’…
Bissonnette believes Horvat will be moved to the Colorado Avalanche as the analyst stated that general manager Joe Sakic specifically mentioned Horvat as his target.
Colorado currently holds very little space on the cap hit with just $115,000 available, according to Cap Friendly. The Avalanche would need to free up some space to make Bissonnette’s prediction come true. There is a possibility that the Canucks could retain some of Horvat’s final year of a six-year contract at a cap hit of $5.5 million.
The Avs have in their back pockets three first round picks that could interest Vancouver, though many believe Colorado would also have to part with young centerman Alex Newhook.
The trade does make sense on both side, especially with the Avalanche needing a boost up front, especially since losing Nazem Kadri during the summer’s free agency following the team’s championship.
The Avalanche would need to remain in the race and could get a huge boost from Horvat, who’s been on fire lately. However, this also means many contenders will give Vancouver a call about its captain. Let’s see if Bissonnette is right about this one, but we will need to wait closer to the trade deadline to find out.
