Patrick Roy pulls both of his goalies just seconds apart
The rookie faces his first and only NHL shot and then gets pulled! Roy is ruthless!
Patrick Roy is nothing if not original.
The Hall of Fame goaltender turned head coach has been known to pull some surprising moves, both in the goal crease and behind the bench. This evening with his New York Islanders down 6-2 to the New York Rangers Roy elected to pull starting goaltender Marcus Hogberg in favor of 22 year old minor league call-up Tristan Lennox.
Seems appropriate, right?
Well... unfortunately for Lennox he allowed a goal on his first NHL shot against.
That was evidently enough of an impression for Roy to immediately pull him from the game in favor of Hogberg.
If you're wondering, Lennox's NHL goals against average is now 12.72...
