There’s been a recent reported that free-agent forward Patrick Kane still needs at least another month of rehab as he continues to recover from hip resurfacing surgery in June. Darren Dreger reported that Kane has been rehabbing in Toronto since July, which got the Maple Leafs’ fanbase excited about a possible addition to their roster once the veteran forward is ready to go.

However, Dreger pointed out that Buffalo Sabres are among the teams with interest for Kane, who would probably love to play home and boost the club’s offense once he’s healthy.

As for the Maple Leafs, there were recent speculations that GM Brad Treliving could find a way to add Kane to his roster. TSN insider Dave Poulin claimed on TSN 1050 that if indeed Kane’s hip condition heals as expected then the Leafs will be “at the forefront of potential suitors.” There are reports floating around that Toronto could add Kane for league minimum and then bump up his pay if he produces. Those bonuses would then be added to next year’s salary. However, with superstar Auston Matthews’ new deal kicking in next season though that might make things even more difficult. It really depends on what other moves Treliving has in mind.

For now folks in Toronto, if you see Kane in town, it’s only because he’s rehabbing in the city.
