Patrick Kane’s agent drops major hint regarding his future
What’s next for 88?
Patrick Kane didn’t miss a beat when he returned to action in November 2023 after signing a one-year deal worth $2.75 million with the Detroit Red Wings. After undergoing hip resurfacing surgery, Kane surprised everyone by putting 20 goals and 27 assists for 47 points in 50 games.
“Now what?” asked insider Pierre LeBrun when writing about the hot names on free agency this summer. He had to ask Kane’s agent, Pat Brisson, who gave out some information about his client’s attentions during the offseason.
“Patrick had a fantastic season based on where he started after major surgery, hip resurfacing, and he was able to get back to his ‘A’ game,” his agent Pat Brisson of CAA Sports said Thursday.
Brisson, who was not “ready to add anything else for the moment”, is supposedly going to speak with Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman over the coming few weeks as Detroit remains in the mix for Kane for the 2024-25 season.
The main thing though, according to LeBrun, is that Brisson will seek term for his 35-year-old player.
“This one’s hard to gauge, but I feel like it’s more likely Kane goes to market July 1.”
Reports surfaced earlier this week that Kane could be reunited with the Chicago Blackhawks if the team makes him an offer. No one can really say if Kane is looking to return to Chicago, though many insiders believe he would be open to it.
There is also the belief that the Buffalo native could on the Sabres’ radar if he hits the market.
If Kane lands in free agency, this will definitely be interesting to see where he ends up, though Brisson is adamant it will need to be fore more than just one season.
