One of the bigger mysteries that has yet to be solved despite the official start of the 2023-24 NHL season is where future Hall of Fame forward Patrick Kane, who split last season between the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers, will be suiting up.
He's been linked to a handful of teams, including several in the Atlantic Division such as the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres and Toronto Maple Leafs. However, those who were hoping that he would return to the Rangers this year are going to be disappointed.
According to Larry Brooks of The New York Post, Kane will not be playing for the Rangers again.
"Patrick Kane is expected to sign as a free agent by Thanksgiving but The Post has been told that No. 88 will not be returning for a Broadway encore.
The Rangers, according to well-placed industry sources, have never been in the mix for the right wing who will turn 35 on Sunday and has been skating on his own in Toronto for approximately the last six weeks after undergoing hip resurfacing surgery on June 1."
