Patrice Bergeron reveals brutal injury after Game 7.
It is quite frankly a miracle that he was able to play through the pain at all, much less in a Game 7 situation.
The Boston Bruins were dealt a tough blow on Sunday night when they were shockingly upset by the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of their opening round series in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Bruins looked uncharacteristically flat on their home ice and although there were no doubt a myriad of reasons for that, we now know that one of them was most definitely injuries. Following the conclusion of Game 7, Patrice Bergeron would reveal that he was dealing with a major one in the form of a herniated disc in his back.
Bergeron was of course infamously injured in the final game of the regular season, a game that many felt he should not have played in given the upcoming Stanley Cup playoffs. It is unclear if Bergeron suffered the injury in that game, or merely re-aggravated an existing injury, but those questions will almost certainly be asked now given the disappointing result in the first round.
Update: The injury was in fact suffered during the final regular season game in Montreal, this will be a tough pill to swallow for many Bruins fans.
