Jack Jablonski is a well-known figure in the hockey community. He was a player for Benilde-St. Margaret in Minnesota more when he suffered a horrendous hit that send him head-first into the boards during a Minnesota high school hockey game on Dec. 30, 2011, leaving him paralyzed.

Jablonski has stayed involved in hockey since the incident and has become an advocate for people with spinal cord injuries. He is also the associate digital media content specialist for the Los Angeles Kings and on Wednesday, he became a hero to many players, announcing on social media that he is homosexual.

This is his movie post:

This is very inspiring from an already inspiring man. Last month, footage of Jablonski showing him eating with the use of his right arm marked the rapid progress from the injury that left him quadriplegic a decade ago. An important milestone.

Today’s announcement is just as inspiring. The Kings commented Jablonski's post with pride and support: "We are proud of Jack and impressed by the courage he displays -- an inspiration to everyone in our organization.

Inclusivity, Equality, and Diversity are embraced in our workplace & our community. Jack’s announcement is celebrated by our club and we support him unconditionally."

Last summer, Nashville Predators prospect Luke Prokop came out as gay, becoming the first active player under contract to an NHL team to do so. Until Prokop’s announcement no other player signed to an NHL team — active or retired — had come out in the history of the professional league.

We can see how some would be inspired by Jablonski’s message.
