The NHL waiver wire has seen plenty of action in recent days, and this afternoon as no exception. Plenty of names have once again landed on waivers, including a pair of former Toronto Maple Leafs.
Zach Aston-Reese was released by the Carolina Hurricanes, while Nicolas Aube-Kubel was released by the Washington Capitals.
Last year with the Maple Leafs, Aston-Reese reached a career high of 10 goals in 77 games played. He also added a goal in six playoff games. Meanwhile, Aube-Kubel played six games with the Leafs last season; he'll forever be known for accidentally denting the Stanley Cup during the Colorado Avalanche on-ice celebration in 2022.
