The Columbus Blue Jackets have officially moved on from forward Patrik Laine, sending him to the Montreal Canadiens along with a second round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft in exchange for defenseman Jordan Harris.

It brings to an end a rocky tenure with the Blue Jackets that included a trade request along with spending the majority of last season within the NHL Player Assistance Program. And shortly after the trade was announced, former Habs defenseman P.K. Subban went viral for his two word response to the deal on social media:

Never one to shy away from revealing his feelings on something, it's obvious that Subban thinks that this is a major acquisition for his former club.

Laine, who was originally selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft by the Winnipeg Jets (one pick after the Maple Leafs selected Auston Matthews), appeared in only 18 games this past season, scoring six goals with three assists.

In 480 career NHL games with the Jets and Blue Jackets, Laine has scored 204 goals with 184 assists, while adding another eight goals and eight assists in 24 postseason games.
