One team aggressively attempts to trade for Alexis Lafreniere!
The former first overall pick could definitely be on the move this summer with a Canadian destination!

For several months now, New York Rangers forward Alexis Lafrenière has heard his name amidst trade chatter and, when he failed to impress during the Blue Shirts’ short playoff run, the rumours only got louder. So loud that on Thursday, Rick Dhaliwal spilled the beans about the Vancouver Canucks continuing to have interest for the former first overall pick, which could lead to a trade this summer.
According to Dhaliwal, the Canucks, who are attempting to shed salary could make some moves to get Lafrenière on board.
“Lafrenière, they really like him…they’re going to try and create cap space…Myers, Garland, if there’s something there for Boeser, Miller…you’re gonna hear these names at the NHL Draft again.”
While the destination of Vancouver could be exactly what Lafrenière needs to get going again and finally meet NHL fans’ expectation, Vancouver will need to make room for him. The Canucks have $84.168 million invested in 18 players, according to Cap Friendly, which puts them above the projected $83.5-million cap. Therefore, Dhaliwal’s suggestion of shipping out a high-salaried defenseman such as Tyler Myers or Oliver Ekman-Larsson makes total sense.
But the Canucks make so much sense : the connection is unsurprising, as Lafreniere’s former agent, Emilie Castonguay, is the assistant GM.
The Rangers are believed to be quite interested in moving Lafrenière, who was a no-show during the postseason, and it will be difficult for New York to match his production for the projected $2.5 million bridge contract the young forward is set to receive.
Maybe, just maybe, a trade out to Vancouver is the right move to make!
