On this Day: Hockey’s Royal Wedding
Happy 29th wedding anniversary to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gretzky
HockeyFeed
It was one of the biggest and most anticipated marriages in Canadian history. On July 16th, 1988 Edmonton Oilers superstar and Hollywood actress Janet Jones exchanged vows and were pronounced husband and wife in front of a crowd of roughly 700 people at Edmonton’s St. Joseph's Basilica. Less than a month later, the couple would be on the move to Los Angeles after the unthinkable happened and Gretzky was traded to the Kings.
The couple first met in the early 1980s but didn’t start dating until 1987. They’ve been together ever since and have raised five children, including Chicago Cubs draft pick Trevor Gretzky and socialite Paulina Gretzky, wife of PGA Tour golfer Dustin Johnson.
Twenty-nine years later and the Gretzky’s appear to be as in love as ever. All the best to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Gretzky!
