Oilers spotted by rival teams looking at 3 goaltenders.

The Edmonton Oilers currently find themselves floating above last place in their division but only thanks to the abysmal play of the San Jose Sharks this season. The Oilers Stanley Cup aspirations coming into the season have all but evaporated in the first two months of the regular season with the Oilers picking up just 5 wins in their first 16 games.

This poor start has already cost Jay Woodcroft his job and it has been a poorly kept secret that the Oilers are calling teams around the league in search of potential answers to their woes.

One of the biggest issues the Oilers have had this season has been their inability to stop pucks, and recently National Hockey League insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the Oilers have been spotted scouting a trio of goaltenders. All 3 of those goaltenders belong to the Montreal Canadiens, with Cayden Primeau, Samuel Montembeault and Jake Allen seemingly on the Oilers radar.

"The Oilers do continue to look at the goaltender market," revealed Friedman on Saturday. "A number of teams who were in Montreal said that Edmonton was there looking at all 3 of Montreal's goaltenders."

Friedman believes that the Oilers are desperately trying to avoid being cornered into making a bad trade, however after yet another loss this weekend he also questions how long the team can wait to make their move.

"I don't believe there is anything imminent there... they are determined not to make a panic trade that they will regret," said Friedman. "But there's no question with every loss... the focus continues more on them."
