This is a recurring thing in Edmonton as one the most frustrating things about being a fan of the Oilers is having to endure some members of the media in the likes of, let’s say, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal.

On Thursday, Oilers young forward Klim Kostin became a fan favourite when he called out Matheson when he asked him one of his weird questions ahead of the matchup against his former team, the St. Louis Blues.

“I think the fans don’t like your questions, hey, on the Twitter? I saw that. You need to change something,” he told the writer who asked if he still watched St. Louis games.

“I just saw the fans don’t like your questions. So you need to think about it,” he laughed. “I don’t care. If I have an answer, I’ll answer it, you know. If I understand the questions, it’s already good for me.”

Kostin, who couldn’t answer why things didn’t work out with the Blues, who selected him in the first round back in 2017, recorded a shot on goal and four hits in just over eight minutes ice time in a 4-3 shootout win for the Blues on Thursday.

“I just want to prove to myself that [the Blues] were wrong, you know? I don’t want to prove to anyone, just to myself,” Kostin had said before the game.

The Russian forward joined the Edmonton after he was moved from St. Louis right before the start of the season and found his way back to the NHL.

And fans in Edmonton love him even more now that he can tell it like it is to the Edmonton media and Matheson.
