There was a change to the NHL schedule for the second round series when the league noticed after posting the original calendar that there was no game on Saturday. Initially, the NHL announced the round-two series between the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights would start with Games 1 and 2 on Wednesday and Friday, however, the league rescheduled the second game to Saturday in Vegas.
Edmonton CTV News caught up with some fans who traveled to Sin City to support the Oilers and most are frustrated over the change and how it affects their travel plans and spendings.
“As we arrived in Vegas, there was talk that it was gonna be changed to Saturday so we got working on that right away and it ended up costing us quite a bit of money to get the changes made,” fan Kevin North, who bought tickets for both games and planned to fly home on Saturday, said about his Las Vegas’ strip.
Getting a hotel for Saturday night and changing his flights to Sunday will cost an extra $1,200 to $1,400, he explained, stating how frustrated he was over the schedule change.
And he was not the only one as the schedule change affecting the Oilers and their fans was trending on social media.
Another change was made to the same schedule of this round 2 series when a concert scheduled for May 10 at Rogers Place was moved to May 11.
This change won’t cost fans any money, and so we definitely feel for those having to stay an extra night in Vegas where nothing is cheap!
