The Vancouver Canucks were unable to retain defenseman Nikita Zadorov, and he has himself a new home with the Boston Bruins. He agreed to a six-year, $30 million contract, giving Boston one of the top free-agent defenseman that were available on the open market.

He split last season with the Calgary Flames and Canucks, the latter of whom he joined after being dealt at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline. In the 54 games that Zadorov played following the trade, he scored five goals with nine assists, and he added another four goals and four assists in 13 postseason games.

However, he couldn't depart the Canucks without saying a proper goodbye. On his social media account, he penned a heartfelt tribute to the fans of Vancouver:

“Thank you, Vancouver!" he began his post.

“Dear Friends, the Canadian market can be challenging and demanding, but when you embrace it and enjoy it, it becomes the best time of your life. Your passion is what makes this city a fantastic place to play,” Zadorov continued. “Life moves quickly, and sometimes hard decisions must be made. We believe this is best for our family, but we have cherished every moment of being part of the Vancouver Canucks organization. Thank you to the ownership, management, staff, coaches, and players. A bright future lies ahead!”
