Nick Foligno: It's hard for us to swallow.
Folgino on the Mitchell Miller signing.
The Boston Bruins announced some highly controversial news earlier this week when they announced they had signed disgraced hockey player Mitchell Miller to a brand new contract.
The move sparked immediate outrage both on social media and in close proximity as well with the Bruins receiving numerous letters, emails and comments from members of their own fan base expressing displeasure over the move. It hasn't been just those from the outside looking in who have spoken out about the move however, with several Bruins players now also speaking out.
Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron previously sat down for an interview where he discussed the controversial signing, and now another veteran forward from the Bruins is sharing his two cents on the topic. The latest comes to us courtesy of veteran forward Nick Foligno, and somewhat unsurprisingly the well respected veteran also expressed his concerns over the decision by Bruins management to bring in Miller.
"It's hard for us to swallow," admitted Foligno as per Fluto Shinzawa.
He also expressed the fact that the sentiment around the Bruins locker room was pretty universal.
"I don't think any guy was too happy," said Foligno.
That being said, Foligno did stop shy of calling out the decision by Bruins management entirely. In fact Foligno reiterated his faith in the management team while also making it clear that there is zero tolerance in the Bruins locker room when it comes to Miller's past behavior.
"It’s tough. It’s a hard topic," admitted Foligno. "The organization is not going to do something that would jeopardize (the team’s culture), but in saying that, it’s not something that anyone in this room stands for."
