This isn't who most fans would guess.

Among the usual suspects for the highest paid National Hockey League players won't come as a surprise to anyone, as leading the way are the likes of Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid ($12.5 million), Aleksander Barkov and Sergei Bobrovsky of the Florida Panthers ($12 million each), and defensemen Darnell Nurse of the Edmonton Oilers and Erik Karlsson of the San Jose Sharks ($12 million each)
And we can't forget about Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews ($11,640 million), New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin ($11,642,857 million), and both Maple Leafs captain John Tavares as well as Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty at $11 million each.
However, there is one player who stands above the rest when it comes to Toal salary for the upcoming 2022-23 NHL season, and it's a forward who was once thought of as a superstar but who hasn't reached the 50 point mark since the shortened 2019-20 campaign - Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin. He'll be earning a cool $13 million this season, the most of any active NHL player.
He signed an eight year, $78,800,000 contract with Dallas prior to the aforementioned 2019-20 season, and the Stars will certainly be hoping that he provides more offensive punch than the 49 points he posted last season.
