NHL Insider has grim prediction for Matt Murray

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray hasn't seen game action since a late April regular season game against the Detroit Red Wings in which he suffered a concussion after an accidental collision with forward Lucas Raymond. 

In the meantime, it's been Ilya Samsonov who has gotten the bulk of work between the pipes for the Leafs, helping them to their first postseason series victory since 2004. Right now, Murray is serving as backup to third stringer Joseph Woll, who replaced Samsonov earlier this week after he suffered an upper body injury against the Florida Panthers.

But what does Murray's future hold with the Leafs? According to NHL Insider Frank Seravalli of The Daily Faceoff, the Leafs could elect to put Murray on Long Term Injured Reserve, or what some hockey fans and analysts like to refer to as the dreaded "Robidas Island", name for former NHL defenseman Stephane Robidas. 

Murray is under contract for one more season with a cap hit of $6,250,000. 

During the regular season, Murray posted a record of 14-8-2 record with a 3.01 goals against average and .903 save percentage.
