New candidate emerges in Rangers’ head coach search right after surprise firing!
Is this the right call by the New York Rangers? I'm not so sure...

On Tuesday, the Nashville Predators stunned many when they fired head coach John Hynes and immediately replaced him with Andrew Brunnette in an attempt to help generate more offense. While this was probably a tough blow on Hynes, he is surely feeling much better on Wednesday as the New York Post reveals that the Rangers have been granted permission to speak to Hynes.
For the past few days, it was believed that former Washington Capitals head coach Peter Laviolette was leading the race to get the vacant coaching spot in New York. However, Hynes’ availability might have thrown a wrench in Laviolette’s plans.
I am not sure, personally, that Hynes is the right choice for the current Rangers’ roster and for the upcoming seasons, as he is known to be more passive. Though I cannot blame the Rangers for wanting to speak with Hynes prior to making this final choice on who will lead the Blue Shirts in 2023-24.
