On Saturday, Calgary Flames forward Nazem Kadri had his very special day with the Stanley Cup after winning it as a member of this year's Stanley Cup winning Colorado Avalanche, and by all accounts the celebration planned by Kadri was an incredible success.
While the celebration was a huge success and a large number of people got to enjoy the festivities, unfortunately it didn't turn out to be a good thing for everyone that was involved. One very unlucky Ontario, citizen had the bad luck of finding himself inside the store of an overly-excited shop owner, when the shop owner suddenly decided to lock up his store in order to attend the celebration himself. As a result of the shop owner's excitement, this unfortunate citizen found themselves trapped inside of the store, although we don't know how long they were stuck inside before the shop owner realized his mistake. According to Maple Leafs beat reporter Lance Hornby, the shop owner went out to watch the motorcade go by, so it was likely a couple of minutes at the very least.
While it is a funny story, I do feel bad for the poor person trapped inside the store who probably found it considerably less amusing.
There was one other hiccup as a result of Kadri's parade on Saturday although this time around it wasn't caused, directly or indirectly, by the parade itself. Once again according to Lance Hornby, who was himself on hand for the parade today, one of the firetrucks that was escorting the parade procession was forced to quickly divert to an actual ongoing emergency, but of course that should always take priority.
