Kadri has been on fire.

There's no question that Nazem Kadri has been something of a controversial figure throughout his career in the National Hockey League. There's also no question that he has all the talent in the world but his temper has cost him, and by extension his teams, at some of the worst moments possible.

Now however Kadri is on the verge of becoming an unrestricted free agent for the very first time in his NHL career and with possibly the biggest negotiations of his life on the horizon Kadri has made a major change. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, Kadri recently fired his current agent and made a shift to a new agency as he approaches what could be one of the most important moments of his young life. On Saturday night Friedman revealed all the details regarding this rather drastic shift from Kadri.

"One of the biggest UFAs, if not the biggest right now, is Nazem Kadri and the ground around him has shifted," said Friedman during Saturday night's NHL broadcast. "Nazem Kadri has a new agent, Darren Ferris will be representing Kadri now, he's from Quartexx who is the same agency that Kent Hughes just left to become general manager of the Montreal Canadiens. But that's a pretty big storyline considering how much interest there will be in Kadri at the end of the season if he does not re-sign in Colorado."

To suggest that there would be interest in Kadri as a free agent may be the biggest understatement of the season. The Avalanche center has been on fire this season and is putting up what are inarguably the best numbers of his career at 31 years of age. Kadri has been on an absurd pace through the first 36 games he has played in the 2021 - 2022 regular season with 15 goals and 36 assists for a very impressive 51 points over that stretch, He has racked up a lot of penalty minutes with 42 already to his name, and boasts a plus minus rating of +16 over that stretch as well.

There will be no shortage of suitors for Kadri if he does indeed become a free agent, and a change in agent may be a sign that he intends to do exactly that.
