Namestnikov transported to hospital after scary injury.

Vladislav Namestnikov has suffered a serious injury and is currently on his way to hospital.

There has been a very scary injury in the National Hockey League on Sunday.

Winnipeg Jets forward Vladislav Namestnikov has been struck in the face by a puck during Game 4 between the aforementioned Jets and the Colorado Avalanche in their opening round Stanley Cup playoff series, and it sounds like things are relatively serious.

Namestnikov was struck in the face when a blast from the blue line deflected off the stick of Avalanche forward Andrew Cogliano, causing the puck to ricochet up high and slam into Namestikov's face at an incredibly high rate of speed. Namestnikov's head can be seen jerking backwards as the puck strikes him in the face, making for a very gruesome scene on the ice.

As you might expect from a puck moving that fast, it did a good bit of damage to Namestnikov's face and that was visible with blood pouring down from his face onto his jersey and onto the towel the trainer was holding up against the wound.

I don't have an update on Namestnikov's status just yet but what I do know is that he is currently being transported to hospital, which again suggests he may have been seriously injured during this incident.

The big concern here will be his eye and/or orbital bone as the puck appeared to strike him just under his left eye.

I hope Namestnikov makes a full and speedy recovery.
