MUST SEE: Spencer Knight unveils touching tribute to Teddy Balkind

This is all kinds of great.

The hockey world came together earlier this year to show support to the family and friends of Teddy Balkind, who was a 10th grade hockey player from New Canaan, Connecticut.

Balkind, who played for St. Luke’s High School team, tragically lost his life after a freak accident during a January 6 game in which Balkind's neck was cut after a collision with another player. Despite being immediately rushed to the hospital, he was soon pronounced deceased. His death was officially ruled and accident by the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Mark Davis, the head of St Lukes School, released a statement soon afterwards saying that “we lost a precious young man in a tragic accident. Both St Luke’s School and Brunswick School are in shock as we work to support our students and families.”

Immediately after the tragic passing, the hockey world began honoring Balkind's memory by leaving hockey sticks outside their front door, a sign of solidarity. And now, Florida Panthers goaltender Spencer Knight has taken it a step further.

He's unveiled his latest mask courtesy of artist extraordinaire Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt, and Balkind is prominently featured in the artwork.

"It's so important in times like this to make sure we come together, and I felt this helmet would be a great way to represent the Connecticut hockey community and everyone who knew Teddy and his family," Knight said.
