The Toronto Maple Leafs are in St. Louis, Missouri today to take on the St. Louis Blues and at the team's game day skate this morning, there were a couple surprise participants.

Injured defensemen Morgan Rielly and Rasmus Sandin both joined practice, which is excellent news because it wasn't clear that either player was even on the road trip.

The latest from TSN insider David Alter:

If either of these guys is well enough to make the lineup during their current three game road trip it would be absolutely huge for the Leafs. They're currently trotting out a blue line that's missing Rielly, Sandin and veteran Jake Muzzin, arguably three of their top four defensemen.

The Leafs have also announced that Mac Hollowell has been recalled from the AHL on an emergency basis:

No word yet on Rielly's or Sandin's status for tonight's game against the Blues or Thursday night's game against the Arizona Coyotes. Stay tuned.
